' Lambassador to the Valleys '

During the Foot and Mouth Crisis, Langdale Larry (the Herdwick model sheep owned by the Langdale Estate) was sat at his own table located at the entrance to the Estate. His job was to inform visitors where they could go and what they could do during their visit...to protect the Valleys during these terrible times.

His role developed over the months of the crisis particularly after having been ram-raided to Warrington and making headline news. We all needed a bit of a laugh. Happily, Larry was returned safely and has now taken up the role of 'Lambassador to the Valleys'...he'll be talking to the locals - all of them - visitors and residents alike to keep us up-to-date with the issues.
